RE: Filon wall delamination repair

Please see this link Repair Techniques
This one of the better papers I have read on Filon and FRP repair.
Good Luck
Edit- spelling- before coffee :B
While it is a very informative page, it does not address the issue the original poster has. I too would like to know how to repair delamination as it will happen to me eventually.

RE: Filon wall delamination repair

I have used Eternabond on my HTT roof with no issues. It will in fact go over imperfections and seal. I pressed it tight over the old sealant in areas that were good, and removed the old sealant in the leaking areas. I highly recommend Eternabond. No more leaks for me! :)

RE: LPG Conversion for Gensets using small air cooled engines

Propane will give you longer range and needs less space for fuel storage tanks. But, it has a lower energy content (it has lower octane, less power) compared to gas so more fuel is required to go the same distance.

RE: WDH's

A bit off topic here but...
We used to tow with a 4200lb trailer (loaded) with a Grand Cherokee. For those who have been keeping score, that is under the tow weight. It did tow it, but very marginally. We could not run the A/C on hot days if there were any type of incline on the highways, it also had bad "suck" when larger vehicles passed, it slowed wayyyy down on hills, and if driving in high winds... whoo boy. It did it's job, but we would not tow more than a 200 radius. Now we have an Escalade EXT (read fancy Avalanche) and it tows the hell out of that trailer. What a difference, like night & day. I agree with some of the previous posters, the rig combination makes all the difference in the world.

Most vehicles have two sets of numbers, one set for towing without a WDH, and one set for towing with a WDH.
You can increase your load by using a WDH vs. without, but you can never safely tow more than the TV is rated for.

RE: Valve Handle hard to pull?

I replaced my black tank valve because it was hard to open/close.
It cost me $13 and about 8 minutes to replace. It works so nice, I may replace me grey tank valve too. :)

RE: Slide covers, are they a must?

We do not have one on our HTT slide. Don't really need it. We have never had an issue with water or debris inside the HTT while closing.
If you have lots of extra money and you feel it is needed, buy one. It is your option.

RE: flush king boo boo

Quote..This does not make sense.
1. Each tank got a roof vent, therefore you cannot pressurize the tank unless there is a pluggen roof vent.
2. If you contiue filling you will simply push the water into wherever it normally comes from. I over filled those tanks befor. The gray tank would have pushed into the shower and the black would probbably ro to the roof thrue the roof vent.
NO WAY TO PRESSURIZE
*********************************************
YES THERE IS (I can yell too) ;-) It's going to take a LOT of pressure to push that water up that vent pipe. By the time that pressure built up enough to push the water up that pipe, the damage was done. - Dave
Pretty sure he is saying that the tank is not air, or water tight. I would agree the tank would swell to some extent due to their design, but pressure would be relived to some extent by the vent tube. After all, it is a "vent tube".
Just another reason to love my HydroFlush! :D

RE: Water Pressure Damage

I carry two water pressure regulators in my HTT. I have loaned out the second to friends on a few occasions. They are not that expensive, there is no reason not to have one. These folks just didn't know they should have one.

RE: UPDATE-Used motor home warrenty - 125 miles and I broke down

I know that some states, such as NY have a "lemon law" that protects buyers of used cars/trucks to some extent. I don't know if it would apply to an RV, but worth checking into.
Maybe this will help? http://www.lemonlawrv.com/index.php?display=lemon_law_links

RE: I care less about the law

We have friends who are at this very moment contemplating buying a 5er to pull. As of now they have a 24' HTT they pull with a couple year old 1/2 ton chevy p'up. They do not plan on getting a bigger truck.
They are your 30 mile away type of camper. I mentioned that they wouldn't get much of a 5er that it would pull, but their response was that friends they have tow them with no problems. All I can say is good luck.
Ah, RV.net . The only place on the internet where people have zero common sense. You think that this family needs a 1 ton Diesel Dually Truck to tow a fifth wheel 30 miles a couple times a year? This site should be named RVMillionaires.net. Or RVAMillionindebt.net would probably be more like it for some.
Absolutely Positively Insane.
I bet I can guess many of the posters political party affiliations by how much control they want in others lives. How is an underpowered half ton truck towing a large trailer pulling a grade at 35 MPH (the fastest it can go) less safe than a BIG wide Diesel Dually with "chips" towing the same a grade at 75?
So because I feel a TT or a very small 5er is a better choice for my 1/2 ton friends I have no common sense? Ludicrous. The people with no common sense are the folks who have a less than marginal TV for the trailer they are hauling in my opinion. I don't care what the weight on the the door says, if it does not handle well, even if within the limits, it is unsafe. Period. Criticize me & call me names if you want, but I want to live to tow another day. It is not that accidents happen all the time, but if you were involved in one, what would you rather have? And the 30 mile range has nothing to do with it... you could be involved in an MVA right after you pull out of your driveway. The 30 mile range is mentioned to show what little towing experience some of these folks have.

RE: I care less about the law

We went to the Poconos over the holiday.
I saw many small TV's hauling rigs well beyond their capability.
One of them was adding water to the radiator along side the road since they were trying to pull a TT with a small minivan in those hills.

RE: Learn from my mistake

So sorry to hear of your incident.
When I picture it in my minds eye, I just can't figure out how or why your finger would be under the hitch so it could be caught in between. I too have a 21' HTT and my fingers never get that low. I only touch the top latch. I would see no need for me to have them that low.
I understand things like that happen quickly, and it can be hard to recall exactly your steps prior to it especially when you do this procedure often.
Glad your recovery went well. Happy camping!

RE: Etrnabond on Roof

I did some roof repair under the rubber roof and repaired it with Eternabond. I also sealed over the seams. Stopped all my leaks.
I bought mine from a roofing supply house that was local to me. It was $40 for a 50' x 4" roll. It is also available online, CW, etc..
I used it over, and in place of the existing stuff. Here is a link to the thread I posted pics late last summer.
